As the weather warms up and families spend more time near the coast, rivers, lakes, and even paddling pools, we have been asked to share an important reminder about keeping children safe around water this summer.

Sadly, drowning can happen quickly and quietly, often when least expected. A few simple precautions can make a life-saving difference.

 Key Water Safety Tips for Families

• Always supervise children closely near any water - even shallow water can be dangerous

• Never swim in open, unsupervised water such as reservoirs 

• Choose lifeguarded beaches and swimming areas where possible

• Learn to spot warning flags and follow safety signs at beaches

• Stay together and avoid letting children swim alone

• Teach children to float on their back if they get into difficulty

• Avoid inflatables in open water (they can easily drift out to sea)

• Make sure older children know how to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard in coastal emergencies

KS1 Sports Day- date change

Due to the forecasted high temperatures on Thursday afternoon next week, we have made the decision to reschedule KS1 Sports Day. This will now take place on Wednesday 15th July, from 9.30-11am. 

KS2 Sports Day is remaining on Thursday 16th July:

LKS2: 9:30-11:00

UKS2: 11:20-12:20

Please join us on the school field (please enter via the pedestrian gate down the path between school and the field- not the school office).

Building Work Reminder

The new KS2 classroom is now complete.

On July 23rd and 24th, the furniture from most of our classes will move to new learning spaces. As a result, school will close earlier than planned on Wednesday 22nd July. Work will be provided so that children will continue learning at home on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th July, with completed work welcome back in September for marking.

Collection times on Wednesday 22nd July will be as follows:

3:05pm for Nursery and Reception 

3:15pm for Classes 1, 2 and 2

3:25pm for Classes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9

Year 5 Reminder

Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 5 will be visiting St Peter's RC High School on Friday 26th June 2026 to take part in a Sports Day competition.

The children will be competing against other schools in a variety of exciting events, including the egg and spoon race, relay, 50m, 100m and 150m sprints.

We will be leaving school promptly at 9:15 am and expect to return by approximately 3:00 pm.

Children who usually bring a packed lunch from home will need to bring one as normal. Children who are on school dinners will be provided with a packed lunch by the school.

Children must come to school wearing their sports clothes: black shorts, a white shirt and black trainers. For safety and identification during the event, the children will also be wearing hi-vis jackets with the school logo.

As the weather may be warm, please send your child with a sun hat and suncream. They will also need to bring their own full water bottle for the day.

Class 7 Reminder

Dear Parents and Carers,

Class 7 will be visiting the Manchester Art Gallery on Wednesday 15th July 2026 from 10:00am to 11:30am. During the visit, the children will be participating in an exciting art session workshop titled "Perfectly Imperfect – Kate Freeborough".

Please note that the travel schedule for this trip requires an earlier start than usual:

Children must be in school by 8:30 am for registration. The children will need to come through the office and go straight to class. 

The class will be walking promptly over to Ryder Brow station at 8:40 am to catch the 9:03am train to Manchester Piccadilly station. They will then walk to Manchester Art Gallery.

The children will take the 12:15 pm train from Manchester Piccadilly, returning to school by 1:00 pm for lunch. Please provide a packed lunch as usual (the school will provide one for children on school dinners). Finally, ensure your child wears appropriate walking shoes and brings a full, easily transportable water bottle.

Keep our children safe! 

PLEASE NO PARKING OR EVEN STOPPING ON KNUTSFORD ROAD!

Unless you have a blue disabled badge, please do not park or even stop on Knutsford Road opposite the school or outside the school between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm as clearly marked on the yellow signs on both sides of the road. 

In accordance with the Highway Code, please do not park within 10 metres of the junctions on Knutsford Road. I need to be clear that my staff are here to teach and care for your children; they are not traffic wardens or police officers. Please be respectful of other road users and our neighbours in order to reinforce the message we share daily with our children: Every Heart is Sacred. 

If you are experiencing difficulties navigating the roads near our school due to dangerous or illegal parking, you can report your concerns here.
