Saints Peter & Paul
On 29th June, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, two great apostles who played a foundational role in the early Christian Church.
Saint Peter was chosen by Jesus as the “rock” on which the Church would be built. He is remembered for his leadership of the early Christian community and his steadfast faith, even in the face of persecution.
Saint Paul was a passionate missionary who spread the message of the Gospel far beyond Jerusalem. Through his letters and journeys, he helped shape much of the Church’s teaching and encouraged believers to live out their faith with courage and love.
Both saints were martyred in Rome and are honoured together as pillars of the Church, reminding us of faith, courage, and unity. Their feast day invites us to reflect on how we, too, are called to share God’s love in our daily lives.
Lord God,
you gave your Church the great apostles Peter and Paul
to guide and strengthen your people in faith.
Through their example, help us to be faithful, courageous, and loving in all we do.
May we follow Christ more closely each day
and share your love with those around us.
Amen.
