Rights Respecting

Our school is proud to be a Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award school, and we have been working extremely hard throughout the year towards achieving the Silver Award.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award, led by UNICEF UK, is based on the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It helps schools create a culture where children’s rights are learned, understood, and lived out in everyday school life. Achieving Silver reflects a deeper commitment across the whole school community, where children not only know their rights but actively see them respected in how the school is run and how we learn together.

We are incredibly proud of the progress made so far and the way our pupils continue to embrace and promote these values each day. Later this term, we will be welcoming our Rights Respecting Schools adjudicator, who will spend time with us as part of our journey towards Silver accreditation.

As we approach this important stage, we would be very grateful if you could keep our school in your thoughts and prayers. Your support means a great deal to our staff and pupils as we continue working together to strengthen our commitment to rights, respect, and responsibility.

Class 5 have been very busy the last few weeks. In maths, they have been learning about money. They have been comparing amounts in pounds and pence and played a game to improve their knowledge. Father Kevin came in for a question and answers session about The Good Samaritan, which we are learning about this term. Finally, we had a visit from St Peter's linked to their Culture Day.

On Tuesday, C2 had a fantastic time at Sugar Brook Farm with Farmer John and Sam from @countrytrust! We learnt about the life cycle of different farm animals, fed some cows, went on a mini-beast hunt, bird watched and even collected our very own eggs

Class 8 and 9 spent the afternoon singing with the Hallé orchestra. They were introduced to the different sections of the orchestra and listened out for the rhythms linking these to the feeling behind the music.

Happy Hearts

The children in Happy Hearts After School Club have thoroughly enjoyed working with Martha, Sam and Bronwyn from Home Manchester on an exciting community art project. Over the past few weeks, they have explored their creativity and contributed fantastic artwork that will form part of a new mural outside Oxford Road Train Station. The children have been proud to share their ideas and talents, and they are excited to see the finished mural on display for the wider community to enjoy. We would like to thank Martha, Sam and Bronwyn for inspiring our young artists and making this wonderful opportunity possible.

Swimming- Pyjamas please!

As part of our swimming curriculum this half-term, all children who attend swimming will be participating in a vital Water Safety and Lifesaving lesson during their usual swim session on Monday 29th June.

To make this training as realistic as possible, your child will need to bring a pair of pyjamas to wear in the water, alongside their usual swimming kit and towel.

Learning to swim and stay afloat while weighed down by clothes is one of the most valuable water safety skills a child can learn.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe around water!
