'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 15/6/26

Literacy

This week we begin reading the text 'Splash, Anna Hibiscus!'

This is a lovely summer story set in Nigeria, where we begin to think about life in a different country, and compare it to the UK.

If you have ever lived in another country, talk to your child about that.

What do you know about life in other countries?

Maths

This week we are learning about odd and even numbers. We are also exploring and recognising doubles.

Finally, we will be identifying patterns and pattern rules.

Phonics

In phonics lessons this week, we are going to continue working on the sounds we already learnt, as we need to consolidate our knowledge and build our confidence in preparation for Year 1.

Please do continue to encourage your child to complete their phonics homework.

Things to remember

Do continue to write a comment on your child's reading record, as this helps us fine-tune our teaching to best support them.

Please remember to read with your child at least 3x per week, for 5-10 minutes.

Also please do continue to read aloud to your child using picture books and non-fiction books they love.
