'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 18/5/26

Literacy

This week we begin reading the text Clean Up! This time Rocket, our main character, will teach our children about looking after our planet. We will also learn how to reuse, reduce and recycle our rubbish.

This week we will be thinking about how to reuse different materials such as plastic and cardboard.

How can you reuse an old plastic bag?

Maths

In maths this week we are exploring 2D shapes. We are manipulating shapes, composing and decomposing shape pictures.

Phonics

In phonics lessons this week, we are going to continue working on the sounds we already learnt, but we will be using them to read and write more complex words with consonant clusters e.g. land, swift. We will also be learning to read and write words with the -er and -est endings (which are used in the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives e.g. big, bigger, biggest)

Please do continue to encourage your child to complete their phonics homework.

Things to remember

Do continue to write a comment on your child's reading record, as this helps us fine-tune our teaching to best support them.

Please remember to read with your child at least 3x per week, for 5-10 minutes.

Also please do continue to read aloud to your child using picture books and non-fiction books they love.
