Sacred Heart R.C. Primary School

'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 04.05.26

May is a very special month in the Catholic calendar, as it is dedicated to Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary. In our school, we take this time to honour Mary, the mother of Jesus, for her love, kindness, and faithful obedience to God.

This year, as we continue to witness global conflict and suffering, our prayers take on an even deeper meaning. We remember Mary’s compassion and her care for those in need, and we are reminded to pray for peace, justice, and the protection of innocent lives around the world.

During May, Catholics often create May altars decorated with flowers and images of Mary, showing our respect and devotion. Catholics may also celebrate a May Procession, where we crown a statue of Mary, Queen of Heaven, with flowers.

At home, you might encourage your children to pray the Rosary, learn about Mary’s life, and reflect on how we can follow her example by being caring, prayerful, and gentle in our own lives. This month invites us to turn to Mary in prayer, asking for her guidance as we seek to bring comfort and hope to those who are suffering.

Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for Us.

Well done to everyone who came to school on time every day this week!

Classes who achieve 100% attendance are invited to school in the 'own clothes' the following Friday - announcements are made in Friday's assemblies and shared in our newsletters. Every lesson really does count!

Culture Day

Friday 15th May

Next Friday is Culture Day at Sacred Heart. This special event aims to broaden our children’s understanding of the world and celebrate the diverse cultures represented within our school community.

On this day, we encourage all children to come to school dressed in a way that reflects a country of their choice. Some of our children have told us that they would like to represent the native culture of their parents/grandparents, but the choice is yours. Children might like to wear traditional clothing or the colours of their national flag. Each class will also have the opportunity to explore and learn about a specific country during the day.

A few weeks ago, we invited parents and carers to join in the celebration and share aspects of their culture with the children. Some parents have chosen to showcase food, music, skills, pictures, or information that highlights their cultural heritage. This will provide a wonderful opportunity for children and parents alike to explore and enjoy the richness of our school’s diverse community. NB: Due to allergies we are a no nut school so any food that is shared should be nut free.

To allow everyone to fully enjoy the event, children may be picked up from 2:30pm to visit the offerings that parents are willing to share. If you are able to collect your child at 2:30pm, please collect them from their normal class door; teachers/teaching assistants will make a note of your name for safeguarding reasons. If another friend or family member is collecting your child on Friday 23rd May, please let the teacher, teaching assistant or office staff know in advance.

To prepare, 9 of our 12 classes will move to new learning spaces. As a result, school will close earlier than planned on Wednesday 22nd July. Work will be provided so that children will continue learning at home on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th July, with completed work welcome back in September for marking.

Further details about collection times and home learning will be shared closer to the date. Thank you for your understanding as we make these significant improvements for our pupils.

Keep our children safe!

PLEASE NO PARKING OR EVEN STOPPING ON KNUTSFORD ROAD!

Unless you have a blue disabled badge, please do not park or even stop on Knutsford Road opposite the school or outside the school between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm as clearly marked on the yellow signs on both sides of the road.

In accordance with the Highway Code, please do not park within 10 metres of the junctions on Knutsford Road.
