Sacred Heart R.C. Primary School

'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 13.04.26

Welcome back to school and to the start of our summer term. I hope you all had a restful and joyful Easter break, and were able to reflect, celebrate and spend quality time with your loved ones.

Easter is a season of renewal and hope, reminding us of God’s endless love and the promise of new life through the Resurrection. As we return to school, we carry with us the joy of the Risen Christ, which will continue to guide us in our learning, our prayers, and in the way we show kindness, respect, and compassion to one another each day.

As a Catholic community, we are truly blessed to share this journey of faith together. We will continue to nurture the unique gifts that God has given each of us, supporting one another so that every child can flourish both academically and spiritually.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. May this new term be one of growth, happiness, and peace, filled with the light and love of Christ in all that we do.

St George’s Day

23rd April 2026

Next Thursday, children are invited to come into school wearing red and white, or red or white items such as a hat/socks/bobbles, or even dressing up as a character related to St George, such as a King or a Knight!

Building work in KS2

As you know, Salford Diocese recently generously granted the building of a new KS2 classroom, which is due to be completed next month. Following this, further extensive internal works will begin in the main school building. These developments will allow us to create a purpose-built Butterfly classroom, three small offices, and the beginnings of a sensory room, with the Diocese funding the construction of the space.

In preparation for these works, we will be undertaking a significant relocation across the school, with 9 of our 12 classes moving into new learning spaces. In order to carry this out safely and efficiently, the school will now need to close earlier than originally planned on Wednesday 22nd July.

To support continued learning, work will be provided for children to complete at home on Thursday 23rd July and Friday 24th July. Parents and carers are very welcome to return this completed work to school in September, when it will be marked by class teachers.

Further details regarding collection times on Wednesday 22nd July, arrangements for the day, and the work to be completed on 23rd and 24th July will be shared closer to the time.

The decision to close school early has not been made lightly; however, the additional time is essential to ensure that the transition into the new and improved learning spaces is carried out safely, with minimal disruption for the children when they return.

We appreciate that this change may cause some inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to improve our school environment for all of our pupils.

Class 1 have had a great first week back! We have especially enjoyed our art lesson, where we made portraits out of fruits and vegetables, based on the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo.

Thank you so much to Victor Alyanyi who returned to Sacred Heart to speak to our KS2 pupils this morning. Victor was a pupil here but now has his own business, his own CIC and is a member of the Youth Parliament!

Victor gave a clear message that our children should be the change they want to see. We are very grateful for him giving up part of his busy day to come and visit us, and for inspiring our wonderful children to aim high, because the world is literally in their hands.

Staffing Update

Last term, Miss Tennant, our former Admin Officer, successfully secured a promotion to Office Manager at a local primary school within the Emmaus Catholic Academy Trust. We are very grateful to Mrs Morris, who is kindly supporting the school office in the interim period. We will shortly be reconvening our interview panel and are confident that we will appoint an outstanding new Admin Officer to this vital role.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this time, and please keep the panel in your prayers as we undertake this important process.
