The Last Supper and the Washing of the Feet
Holy Week in 2026 will take place from Sunday 29th March to Saturday 4th April, leading to the great celebration of Easter Sunday on 5th April 2026. This is the holiest week of the Church’s year, when we walk closely with Jesus through the final days of His earthly life and prepare to rejoice in His Resurrection.
On Maundy Thursday (2nd April 2026), we remember the Last Supper, when Jesus Christ gathered with His disciples for a final meal. During this sacred moment, Jesus gave us the gift of the Eucharist and showed us what true love and service look like.
One of the most powerful signs of this love was the washing of the disciples’ feet. Although He was their teacher and Lord, Jesus knelt before them in humility, teaching that greatness comes through serving others. He asked His followers to do the same: to love one another with kindness, patience and generosity.
As we journey through Holy Week, we reflect on this example of humble service and prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter Sunday. The Resurrection is the heart of our faith, the moment when sorrow is turned into hope and death into new life. May this holy season inspire us all to serve one another with love and to celebrate Easter with renewed faith and boundless joy.
