Saint Joseph: Faithful Guardian and Patron of the Universal Church

On 19th March, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Saint Joseph was chosen by God for a unique and beautiful mission: to be the earthly father of Jesus and the faithful spouse of Mary. Though we do not hear any spoken words of Joseph in the Gospels, his actions speak powerfully of courage, obedience and trust in God.

When the angel appeared to him in a dream, Joseph did not hesitate to do as the Lord asked. He welcomed Mary into his home, protected her good name, and lovingly raised Jesus as his own son. He led the Holy Family to safety when they fled to Egypt and worked faithfully as a carpenter to provide for them in Nazareth.

Saint Joseph is a model of quiet strength, humility and steadfast faith. He reminds us that holiness is often found in everyday acts of love, responsibility and service. Because of his faithful care for Jesus and Mary, he is honoured as Patron of the Universal Church and as a powerful intercessor for families, fathers and workers.

As a school community, we give thanks for Saint Joseph’s example and ask for his prayers, that we too may listen carefully to God’s voice, act with courage, and serve one another with generous hearts.

Mother's Day

Sunday 15th March

As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day 2026, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful mothers and mother figures in our school community.

Your love, strength, patience and unwavering support make an extraordinary difference in the lives of your children and in the life of our school. Whether through quiet encouragement at home, involvement in school events, or the daily sacrifices you make, your dedication does not go unnoticed.

We are deeply grateful for all that you do and for the care and faith you nurture in your families. Wishing you a joyful and blessed Mother’s Day.

Parents Evening

A reminder that our Parents Evening is approaching on the 24th, 25th and 26th March. Please book your appointments through Parent Mail for KS1 and KS2 Classes. EYFS Parents should book directly with their child's Class Teacher.

Please note that bookings will close at 3:30pm on Friday 20th March in order to allow teachers time to prepare the data that they will share with you.

When you arrive for your parents’ evening appointment, please use the pedestrian gate and main office doors to access the school building and please allow additional time so that you can look at your children’s books before, or after, you meet with the teacher. Staff will direct you to the correct classroom or meeting room on arrival.

If you are unable to leave the children at home with a responsible adult, please keep them with you at all times as staff are not available to supervise during parents’ evenings. Please leave classrooms tidy, ready for the next day’s learning.

Thank you.

The children in UKS2 held an assembly on Ash Wednesday. The children read and discussed the scripture Joel 2:12-18 and Matthew 6: 1-6, 16-18. They then wrote down a promise that they wanted to uphold this Lent.

This week in Nursery the children have been reading the story Say Hello to the Baby Animals. As part of our Growing topic and Science Week, they have been learning the names of different baby animals. The children liked exploring the farm animals and washing them in the tuff tray. They especially enjoyed visiting Reception to see their chicks. They made their own chick craft independently too. The children also looked at the story Come on, Daisy. They learned that it is Mother's Day this weekend and talked about the ways their mums look after them. The children discussed things they can do at home to show their mums how much they love and appreciate them.

St Patrick’s Day

Tuesday 17th March

As a Manchester Catholic School, many of our families have strong links to Ireland, therefore all children are invited to add a touch of green to their uniforms on Tuesday 17th March, to celebrate St Patrick's Day. For example, children may wish to wear green hair accessories, green socks, trainers or polo-shirts underneath their school jumpers.

British Science Week 2026 - PhunkyFoods

Science week

This week, the children at Sacred Heart took part in Science week. This year's theme was Curiosity: What's Your Question? Throughout the school,  the children did hands-on investigations from exploring colour,  floating, sinking, backbones and air resistance. Afterwards, they thought scientifically about their results. They had lots of fun!

Take a look at our Instagram page to see photos of our work!

Keep our children safe!

PLEASE NO PARKING OR EVEN STOPPING ON KNUTSFORD ROAD!

Unless you have a blue disabled badge, please do not park or even stop on Knutsford Road opposite the school or outside the school between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm as clearly marked on the yellow signs on both sides of the road.

In accordance with the Highway Code, please do not park within 10 metres of the junctions on Knutsford Road. I need to be clear that my staff are here to teach and care for your children; they are not traffic wardens or police officers. Please be respectful of other road users and our neighbours in order to reinforce the message we share daily with our children: Every Heart is Sacred.

If you are experiencing difficulties navigating the roads near our school due to dangerous or illegal parking, you can report your concerns here.
