World Book Day 2026 – making it meaningful - Education North Tyneside

Next week on Thursday 5th March it is World Book Day. This is a day to celebrate reading and books in all forms, and children are encouraged to dress up if they want to. Characters in books also come in all shapes and forms, so please don't feel that your child has to wear a special costume that takes a lot of time or money to produce.

Children could dress up in any fictional character costume they may already have e.g. superhero outfits. They might also dress up as a person in a non-fiction book e.g. a footballer they admire like Kobbie Mainoo or Khadija Shaw, for example.
