Sacred Heart R.C. Primary School

'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 02.02.26

On February 11, we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. This feast reminds us of the special day when Mary appeared to a young girl named Bernadette in the town of Lourdes, France, in 1858. Mary showed Bernadette a spring of water and asked her to tell people to pray and trust in God’s love. Many people have experienced healing and comfort through this holy water, and Lourdes has become a place of hope for people from all over the world.

The story of Our Lady of Lourdes teaches us about faith, trust, and the power of prayer. Mary’s gentle guidance reminds us that even in difficult times, God’s love is always with us. Like Bernadette, we can listen to Mary’s message by being kind, praying for others, and caring for those who need help.

Dear Mary, thank You for showing us how much God loves us. Help us to trust in God, to pray with faith, and to bring hope and kindness to everyone we meet. Amen.

May the message of Our Lady of Lourdes inspire us to have faith, hope, and courage every day.

This week, Class 5 stepped back in time on our trip to Ordsall Hall, exploring what life was like in the Tudor era. From grand halls to everyday chores, the children were completely immersed in history and loved every moment. Back in the classroom, we also started looking at our next literacy unit: non-chronological reports, all about Tudors. In Maths, the children have been getting to grips with division using flexible partitioning, building confidence and showing brilliant problem-solving skills along the way.

Today at our first Rights Right Now drop-in! Children were eager to talk about their rights and explore specific Articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Key points the children offered - Children should be safe and healthy, with adults looking out for them. (Article 3) All children have the same rights, with no discrimination. (Article 2) Every child has the right to feel safe. (Article 19) Children's voices matter – they should be heard and listened to. (Article 12) It was inspiring to see children engaging, sharing their views, and exploring what their rights mean in real life! #ChildrensRights #RightsRightNow #UNCRC #SafeAndHeard #EqualityForAll

World Book Day 2026

Thursday 5th March 2026

Children, World Book Day is coming up in March, so please start thinking about which book character you would like to come to school dressed as! Your character can be chosen from any fiction or non-fiction book, or even a biography/autobiography so please use items that you already have or that you can borrow from friends and family; we do not want World Book Day to cause additional stress or expenditure. Don’t forget: there are plenty of book characters who wear their pyjamas!

Classes 1-6 will also be visiting Gorton Library on this day!

Trauma Informed Parenting Workshop

Wednesday 11th February 2026, 10am - 2 pm (online)

This workshop is being delivered by Trauma Informed Parenting (TIP), a charity who support parents, carers, educators, and professionals working with children who display distressed behaviours due to trauma or additional needs. The session will explore how to regulate behaviours with curiosity, compassion and connection. Participants will also be able to recognise their own stress reaction to their child’s behaviour and understand what is really going on in a child’s brain in those moments. Please click here for further information, and to register for the workshop.

Keep our children safe!

PLEASE NO PARKING OR STOPPING ON KNUTSFORD ROAD!

Unless you have a blue disabled badge, please do not park or even stop on Knutsford Road opposite the school or outside the school between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm as clearly marked on the yellow signs on both sides of the road.

In accordance with the Highway Code, please do not park within 10 metres of the junctions on Knutsford Road. I need to be clear that my staff are here to teach and care for your children; they are not traffic wardens or police officers. Please be respectful of other road users and our neighbours in order to reinforce the message we share daily with our children: Every Heart is Sacred.

If you are experiencing difficulties navigating the roads near our school due to dangerous or illegal parking, you can report your concerns here.
