Sacred Heart R.C. Primary School

'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 26.02.26

On February 2nd, we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This feast remembers the day when Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem, forty days after His birth. There, they offered Him to God and met Simeon, a holy man who recognised Jesus as the light for all people.

This feast is sometimes called Candlemas, because it reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world. Just as candles brighten a dark room, Jesus brings light, hope, and love into our lives. It is a day to remember that God’s love shines for everyone and that we can be a light to others through kindness, care, and faith.

Dear Jesus, thank You for being the light in our lives. Help us to share Your love with everyone we meet and to bring hope and joy to the world. Amen.

May the light of Jesus shine in your hearts today and always.

Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee

The Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee ended with Pope Leo XIV closing the Holy Door of St Peter's on January 6, 2026 (Epiphany), urging the faithful that the pilgrimage of hope continues, rooted in God's mercy and love, not fear.

Pope Leo XIV urged us to 'recognise a pilgrim in the visitor, a seeker in the stranger, a neighbour in the foreigner and fellow travellers in those who are different'.

His message emphasised that while the special year ended, the Christian journey of hope, inspired by Jesus, is ongoing, demanding action to help the poor.
