Sacred Heart R.C. Primary School

'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 19.01.26

On January 25, we celebrate the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. This feast reminds us that God’s love can change anyone’s heart. St. Paul, who was first called Saul, once did not follow Jesus and even treated Christians badly. But God had a plan for him, and everything changed on the road to Damascus.

A bright light shone around Saul, and he heard Jesus asking why he was hurting others. After this, Saul was baptised, regained his sight, and chose to follow Jesus. From that day on, he dedicated his life to sharing God’s love, travelling far and wide, and writing letters to guide early Christians. He became known as St. Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles.

St. Paul’s story shows us that no one is ever too far from God’s love. Even if we make mistakes, God can help us change and do great things.

Dear Jesus, thank You for showing us that Your love can change hearts. Help us to follow You, to learn from our mistakes, and to share Your love with everyone we meet. Amen.

May St. Paul’s courage and faith inspire us to trust in God’s love every day.

Caritas: The Dignity of Work

In our assemblies this week, Mrs McCarthy spoke to the children about the Dignity of Work. We discussed how work can enhance our lives, providing we are treated fairly and with dignity.

We would be delighted if any of our parents were able to come into school to talk to our children about their work and, in particular, the good that their work does for other people. If you would like to come in and talk to the children, please get in touch via our admin email address. Thank you!

What a lovely week we've had in Nursery! The children have been learning about people who help us, and this week the job of a post person. They have really enjoyed role playing in the post office. The story they have been reading this week is Dear Zoo. The children explored the wild animals and their patterns, they have also enjoyed making animal homes in the playdough area.

School Dinners

We recently met with Zowie, our Catering Manager, to discuss how our school meals can continue to support children’s health, wellbeing and learning.

As part of this work, all pupils will be given the opportunity to vote on their favourite dinner options, ensuring children have a meaningful voice in shaping future menus. This helps us provide meals that pupils enjoy while maintaining healthy, balanced choices.

This work links to:

  • Article 12, which states that children have the right to express their views and have them taken seriously

  • Article 24, which highlights children’s right to good health and nutritious food

  • Article 29, which focuses on education supporting children’s development and helping them reach their full potential

By listening to pupils and involving them in decisions that affect school life, Sacred Heart continues to place children’s rights and pupil voice at the heart of our community. Watch this space for updates!

Keep our children safe!

PLEASE NO PARKING OR EVEN STOPPING ON KNUTSFORD ROAD!

Unless you have a blue disabled badge, please do not park or even stop on Knutsford Road opposite the school or outside the school between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm as clearly marked on the yellow signs on both sides of the road.

In accordance with the Highway Code, please do not park within 10 metres of the junctions on Knutsford Road. I need to be clear that my staff are here to teach and care for your children; they are not traffic wardens or police officers. Please be respectful of other road users and our neighbours in order to reinforce the message we share daily with our children: Every Heart is Sacred.

If you are experiencing difficulties navigating the roads near our school due to dangerous or illegal parking, you can report your concerns here.

Junior Physical Activity Referral Service

The Junior Physical Activity referral service is currently piloting a group-based approach to supporting children and their families to make sustained lifestyle and dietary changes.

Children over the 91st BMI centile can access interactive physical activities and psycho-educational workshops on healthy eating and behaviour change. This group-based approach cultivates peer support, fosters relationships and helps to build friendships for children in the same area. Parents and Carers can also access nutrition and psychoeducational workshops. All sessions are run by registered nutritionists and weight management practitioners.

This programme is delivered over 10 weeks and invites the eligible child, siblings, parents/carers and even extended family members to engage with a different topic each week. There are limited places available for this programme, and families should contact juniorpars@morelife.co.uk for a referral link.
