'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 12.01.26

Last Sunday, we celebrated the final feast of Christmastide:  The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This feast remembers the day when Jesus was baptised by John in the River Jordan. Even though Jesus was without sin, He chose to be baptised to show us the way to live and to reveal that He is God’s beloved Son. When He came up from the water, the heavens opened, the Spirit of God came down like a dove, and a voice said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Mt 3:16-17).

This feast reminds us that baptism is a special gift from God. Just as the Spirit came upon Jesus, God’s Spirit is with us too, guiding and loving us every day. It is also a wonderful time to think about our own baptism, the promises made for us, and the joy of becoming part of God’s family.

Dear Jesus, thank You for showing us the way through Your baptism. Help us to follow You, to live with love, and to remember that Your Spirit is always with us. Amen.

May the joy and love of Jesus fill your hearts today and every day.

This Week in Class 5! It's been a busy and brilliant week of learning. In Maths, we explored Area using post-its to investigate how many different shapes can share the same area. In Science, we discovered how sound travels to our ears. During PE, we've been practicing our throwing and passing skills for Handball and in RE, we learned about the Baptism of Jesus, which ties in beautifully with our Class Assembly focus this week.

The End of the School Day

We kindly ask that children do not use school equipment, including the woodland area, at the end of the school day. Our staff work incredibly hard and have important meetings, preparation, and assessments to complete immediately after dismissing their classes. We greatly appreciate your support in respecting the work-life balance of our staff by leaving the school premises as soon as you collect your eldest child. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

Birthdays in School

Own clothes rather than sweets or cakes

We invite children to come into school wearing their ‘own clothes’ on their birthdays (or on a day close to their birthday should their birthday fall on a non-school day) so that the entire school community can wish them a happy birthday all day long! We ask you to please save the birthday sweets, cakes etc. for your celebrations at home in support of our healthy eating message. Thank you.

Sacred Heart Family Hub offers monthly peer support sessions for SEND families. These sessions are supported by professionals who provide valuable information on the services and resources available to families.

In addition, they run fortnightly walking groups for SEND families, creating opportunities for connection, wellbeing, and community support.
