'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

Catholic News

May, the month of Our Lady

May is a very special month in the Catholic calendar, as it is dedicated to Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary. In our school, we take this time to honour Mary, the mother of Jesus, for her love, kindness, and faithful obedience to God.

During May, Catholics often create May altars decorated with flowers and images of Mary, showing our respect and devotion. We may also celebrate a May Procession, where we crown a statue of Mary with flowers, symbolising her as Queen of Heaven.

At home, you might like to encourage your children to pray the Rosary, learn about Mary's life, and reflect on how we can follow her example by being caring, prayerful, and gentle in our own lives.

This month reminds us of Mary’s important role in our faith and encourages us to turn to her in prayer, asking for her help and guidance as we try to live as followers of Jesus.

Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for Us.

Academic Year 2025-2026

Whilst it is still a little early to confirm detailed staffing arrangements for next academic year, I am delighted to share that Mrs McCarthy, Miss Tabib, Miss Chaudhry, Mrs McGovern, Miss Nathan, Miss Speed, Miss J and Miss Sabba will remain here at Sacred Heart as permanent members of staff.

We are blessed to have such a dedicated teaching team who have our children’s best interests at heart at all times and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of them for the hard work, commitment, and joy they bring to our school community every day. Their passion for teaching, their care for every child, and their willingness to go above and beyond do not go unnoticed. Sacred Heart is a special place because of the people within it, and we are truly grateful to have such a strong, faith-filled team serving with us into the future.

Class News

Reception

This week, Reception 2 has started to learn about what happened on Pentecost day. We learnt about how we cannot see the Holy Spirit, but it can be represented as a dove, wind or fire. In provision, the children made their own wind or fire streamers to represent the Holy Spirit.

Class 9

C9 have been learning about complementary flavours in DT. Here they are trying different foods to decide whether they balance or enhance one another.

Class 7

Class 7 had a wonderful day developing their teamwork skills during our visit to the Forest School. They were very busy throughout the day and took part in a variety of activities. They built dens from sticks, made “seed bombs” to plant seeds in a place close to their heart. They also carved willow branches with a variety of tools and constructed a table where they were given the opportunity to use electrical drills. At the end of the day, they enjoyed their well-deserved S’mores filled with delicious marshmallows, heated by an open fire.
