Learning About Our New Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV

This week, in her assemblies, Mrs McCarthy has been speaking to the children about our new pope, Pope Leo. Elected by the College of Cardinals after much prayer and discernment, Pope Leo XIV now serves as the 267th successor to Saint Peter.

As the Bishop of Rome and the leader of Catholics across the world, Pope Leo guides the Church with wisdom, compassion, and faith. We continue to keep him in our prayers as he carries out this great responsibility.

The children have been hearing how Pope Leo shows himself to be a kind and fatherly presence, a true shepherd to God’s people. Across school, we are reflecting on his message and exploring how we can follow his example of love, humility and service in our daily lives.

Heavenly Father,
We thank you for our new pope, Pope Leo. Bless him with strength, wisdom and peace. May he lead your Church with love, always listening to your voice. Help us to support him with our prayers and to live as children of light. Amen.

This week in Class 4, we've been learning about the Zones of Regulation. The children have enjoyed practicing different breathing techniques to help them feel calm, focused, and ready for learning.

Look at these fabulous pieces of work, created by some of our wonderful Year 6 pupils! These children chose to create this work in their own time, at home, to show Miss Wynne their current knowledge. Well done!

Change of shoes for older children

Use of the field during the Autumn, Winter and Spring months

Children in UKS2 (Classes 7-9) will be able to use the field at lunchtimes providing they have a change of shoes in school. This protects their school shoes, and our carpets, from the Manchester mud. Please send a spare pair of shoes (ideally trainers or wellies) into school each day if your child would like to use the field at lunchtime. Thank you.

Outside Class 6

Lost property can be found in the large storage box on the playground step outside Class 6 (Miss Tabib’s class). Please feel free to look through this box whenever your child has misplaced an item of clothing.

14th September 2025

Education Sunday falls on the second Sunday of September (14th September, in 2025) just as we all start to settle into the routine of the new academic year. Education Sunday is one of the oldest Days of Special Prayer in England and Wales, established 176 years ago in 1848. It provides an opportunity to celebrate and give thanks to all involved in making Catholic schools places of enlightenment, as well as to look forward in anticipation of the year ahead.

In school, on time, every day

Please note that children are marked ‘late’ if they arrive after 8:55am.

Lessons begin promptly at 8:55am and every class starts their day with either Phonics or Reading lessons so please ensure that your child is in class on time so that they don’t miss any vital learning. Thank you.
