'Where Every Heart is Sacred'

W/C 05/10/26

Literacy

This week we begin reading 'Pumpkin Soup'. We will talk about the signs of Autumn e.g. leaves changing colour, cooler weather etc. We will also learn to identify different fruit and vegetables. We will taste different fruits and vegetables, and then we will describe their smell, appearance and taste. We will end the week learning how to make pumpkin soup. We will have a go at writing a list of ingredients, and we will use our sequencing skills to order a recipe.

What is your favourite sign of Autumn? Why?

Maths

In maths lessons this week we will learn to sort items in different ways, and we will describe sorting rules e.g. sorting by colour, by size etc.

We will also begin learning about patterns and how to describe them e.g. 'black and white zig-zag', 'spots' etc.

Phonics

Our phonics sounds this week are: g, o, c, k.

Please continue to engage with your child's reading and phonics homework.

Do ask your child's class teachers if you have any questions about them.
