Matthew 20:1–16

"Are you envious because I am generous?"

In Sunday's Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard. Although they began work at different times, each worker received the same reward. Through this story, Jesus reminds us that God's love is generous, unconditional and freely given to everyone. His goodness is not earned by comparison with others, but received with gratitude.

It can sometimes be tempting to compare ourselves with those around us or to think that life should always seem perfectly fair. This Gospel encourages us instead to celebrate the gifts and blessings that God gives to each person and to rejoice in the success of others. As a school family, may we learn to be grateful for all that we have, to celebrate one another's achievements, and to reflect God's generosity through our own kindness, encouragement and compassion.

Secondary School Admissions

The application deadline is fast approaching for current Year 6 pupils.

Dear Year 6 Parents and Carers,

If you have not yet applied for a secondary school place for your child, please remember that the closing date for applications is 31st October.

When completing your application, please use all of the preference spaces available and include schools that you would be happy for your child to attend. Applying for only one school does not increase the chances of securing a place there. If your preferred school is oversubscribed and you have not listed other acceptable preferences, the Local Authority will allocate your child a place at the nearest school with vacancies, which may not be a school you would have chosen.

Once applications have been submitted, primary schools are not involved in the Local Authority's allocation process and are unable to influence decisions about school places. If you would like any advice or guidance before submitting your application, please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Botham, who will be happy to help.

Manchester residents, please apply online using the link below:

Five Trusted People

This week, we have been talking to the children about their five trusted people. These are five people, adults or older children, to whom the children could talk if they had a big worry or a problem that they couldn’t solve for themselves. It’s a good idea to include people who aren’t in the family as well as people who are. Perhaps you could ask your child who their trusted people are and help them to find the full five if they can’t think of them all by themselves.

Children often choose their parents, their grandparents, aunties and uncles, older siblings or older cousins, their teacher, teaching assistant, a senior leader or someone they turn to for help with their pastoral needs, for example Mrs Long, our pastoral support worker, or Alexis Slater, our Caritas family support worker.

Red non-uniform day for Manchester Food Bank, inspired by Cafod and Show Racism the Red Card

Each Autumn, CAFOD holds a Family Fast Day in which we are invited to come together as a community to fast, pray and raise funds to address issues of food and hunger around the world. Once again, our Caritas team is asking for donations for the Manchester Food Bank in exchange for coming to school dressed in their ‘own clothes’ on the final day of this half term.

As October 16th is also Show Racism the Red Card’s Wear Red day, we invite our children to wear an item or two, or more if they choose, of red clothing on October 16th to show our commitment to changing hearts, changing minds and changing lives.

School closes for the October half term break on Friday 16th October, at normal school finish time (3:05pm, 3:15pm, 3:25pm).

Keep our children safe!

PLEASE NO PARKING OR EVEN STOPPING ON KNUTSFORD ROAD!

Unless you have a blue disabled badge, please do not park or even stop on Knutsford Road opposite the school or outside the school between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm as clearly marked on the yellow signs on both sides of the road.

In accordance with the Highway Code, please do not park within 10 metres of the junctions on Knutsford Road. I need to be clear that my staff are here to teach and care for your children; they are not traffic wardens or police officers. Please be respectful of other road users and our neighbours in order to reinforce the message we share daily with our children: Every Heart is Sacred.

If you are experiencing difficulties navigating the roads near our school due to dangerous or illegal parking, you can report your concerns here.
