I am Mrs Garrett, I am Early Years’ Leader and I have been teaching at Sacred Heart since 2019, when my family moved up to Manchester. At school I used to love writing, but I always thought I was bad at maths. Luckily, I had a very kind teacher who taught me to be brave and have a go during my lessons, and now I love maths! This is the best thing about school: being free to make mistakes, knowing someone is there to help you improve. In my spare time, I love to walk and cycle. I also spend a lot of time in the garden enjoying the sunshine and watching the birds. Like many of our children at Sacred Heart, English is my second language. Did you know that I was born in Brazil? I speak Portuguese and a bit of Spanish. How about you?

Hello, My name is Mrs Slater and I feel very fortunate to have been part of our lovely school community for many years. Teaching in the early years is my passion. I thoroughly enjoy providing fun, play-based learning opportunities for our little ones to explore.
This year I am delighted to be teaching in Reception 1 once again. I am really looking forward to getting to know a wonderful new class of children and families. I teach Reception 1 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings.
I am also the Phonics Leader here at Sacred Heart. I very much enjoy teaching early reading skills as it is so rewarding to watch children grow in confidence and develop a love of reading.
Outside of school I enjoy staying active, visiting the theatre and going on days out with my two young children.

Hello, I am Mrs Bancroft and I have been teaching at Sacred Heart for many, many years! I expect I have taught your big brothers or sisters too! I love being part of our Sacred Heart community, it’s really such a special place.
This year, I am teaching Reception 1 with Mrs Slater. I teach Reception 1 on Wednesday morning, Thursdays and Fridays. I also tutor our recently qualified teachers – I love both roles so much. When I am not at work, I love to go to the beach with my family and search for sunshine, fish and chips and ice-cream!
Sacred Heart is a wonderful school and I am so proud to work here.

Hi! My name is Miss Ghafoor, and I am so excited to be the Reception 2 teacher. I really enjoy working in the early years, having spent two years working in Nursery and Reception. In my spare time I enjoy reading and going on long walks. I am so excited about the journey we will take together over the coming months.
