Reception

I am Mrs Garrett, I am Early Years’ Leader and I have been teaching at Sacred Heart since 2019, when my family moved up to Manchester. At school I used to love writing, but I always thought I was bad at maths. Luckily, I had a very kind teacher who taught me to be brave and have a go during my lessons, and now I love maths! This is the best thing about school: being free to make mistakes, knowing someone is there to help you improve. In my spare time, I love to walk and cycle. I also spend a lot of time in the garden enjoying the sunshine and watching the birds. Like many of our children at Sacred Heart, English is my second language. Did you know that I was born in Brazil? I speak Portuguese and a bit of Spanish. How about you?

Hello, My name is Mrs Slater and I feel very fortunate to have been part of our lovely school community for many years. Teaching in the early years is my passion.  I thoroughly enjoy providing fun, play-based learning opportunities for our little ones to explore.

This year I am delighted to be teaching in Reception 1 once again. I am really looking forward to getting to know a wonderful new class of children and families.

I am also the Phonics Leader here at Sacred Heart.  I very much enjoy teaching early reading skills as it is so rewarding to watch children grow in confidence and develop a love of reading.

Outside of school I enjoy staying active, visiting the theatre and going on days out with my two young children.

Hello, I'm Mrs Bowen, and I've been teaching here at Sacred Heart for several years now. Teaching is my passion in life and I am lucky to have taught children in all year groups. This year, I'm especially lucky to be working in Reception 1, with some of our youngest learners.

I am also the Maths Lead here at Sacred Heart. I love learning and teaching maths and take great pleasure in sharing this love with our school community.

At home, I enjoy spending time with my young daughter; I also love running, cooking and singing in my spare time.

Hello, I am Mrs Bancroft and I have been teaching at Sacred Heart for many, many years! I expect I have taught your big brothers or sisters too! I love being part of our Sacred Heart community, it’s really such a special place.

This year, I am teaching Reception 2 with Mrs Enright. I also tutor our recently qualified teachers – I love both roles so much. When I am not at work, I love to go to the beach with my family and search for sunshine, fish and chips and ice-cream!

Sacred Heart is a wonderful school and I am so proud to work here.

Hello, my name is Mrs Enright and I have been working at Sacred Heart for many years now in the Early Years Department. This year I am working In Reception 2, alongside Mrs Bancroft.  I am passionate about the Early Years and it is a joy to see children’s learning and confidence flourish. I am also the Music Leader here at Sacred Heart and can play the clarinet and piano. In my spare time I love spending time with my family, going outdoors and reading. I adore books and love reading lots of different stories in class to the children! My favourite subjects to teach are Literacy/ Reading and R.E.

I wanted to be a teacher since I was about 4 years old! I used to line up my teddy bears and dollies and take a register! My Dad and Grandma were both teachers too!
